Dear Readers,

  it’s a well-established fact that foreign words are better memorized long-term when associated with their origins, or etymology. Therefore, I am pleased to present the latest update of my English-Italian and Portuguese-Italian glossaries.

  These free download unique companions are unique for your easy learning, as they include the aforementioned etymology for many listed terms.

  The first glossary covers mainly English and American terms currently used in the press mostly drawn from The New York Times and the Guardian. The source for the continental Portuguese glossary is primarily the daily Público newspaper online. Here, many terms come from readers’ posts, so you’ll also find some informal or slang terms used in everyday street language. Both glossaries are periodically updated with new terms.
